Job Title: Prison Education Manager
Location: HMP Thameside (Full-time, Permanent)
Salary: £45,000 (plus London weighting)
Contract: Permanent
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Education Manager to lead and manage the Prison Education provision, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and curriculum delivery. You will be responsible for maximising contract performance, supporting and developing your team, and ensuring all education delivery aligns with both organisational and learner needs.

Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage the education service, ensuring high-quality provision that meets contractual, financial, and quality assurance targets.
· Oversee curriculum planning and development, ensuring it meets the needs of learners, the prison population, and local labour market demands.
· Monitor performance and quality standards, embedding continuous improvement across all areas of delivery.
· Recruit, develop, and manage staff effectively, ensuring performance targets and standards are consistently achieved.
· Manage departmental budgets, income, and expenditure to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
· Ensure all activity complies with internal policies, prison regulations, and safeguarding requirements.
· Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of delivery and team management.
· Maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners, attending relevant meetings and representing the organisation professionally.
· Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and quality frameworks, driving high-quality teaching and learning.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
· Relevant degree or professional qualification.
· Experience in curriculum development and educational leadership.
· Strong staff management and performance development skills.
· Proven track record of achieving quality and performance targets within an education setting.
· Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
· Understanding of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
· Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
· Ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence.
Desirable:
· Recognised teaching or assessing qualification.
· Experience of working within prison education or with disadvantaged groups.
· Experience in quality assurance and audit processes.
· Awareness of current education and training initiatives
