Job Description
Red Snapper Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join a busy probation team based at the Newark office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to return to frontline practice in a supportive and structured environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of medium and high-risk individuals, undertaking assessments, delivering sentence management, and supporting rehabilitation goals. The role will also involve producing high-quality reports, updating case management systems, and working face to face with service users.
This is a full-time, temporary contract for 4 months, with all work to be delivered on-site in Newark.
Job Summary
Location: Newark Probation Office, Newark, Nottinghamshire
Contract Type: Temporary, 4 months with possibility of extension
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Rate: £21.75 p/h PAYE or £28.64 p/h Umbrella
Working Pattern: On-site, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise a caseload of medium and high-risk individuals on probation.
Deliver face-to-face sentence management interventions.
Complete risk assessments and produce high-quality written reports.
Accurately update and maintain case management systems.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, courts, and partner agencies to manage risk and support rehabilitation.
Contribute to safeguarding and public protection arrangements.
Essential Requirements
Professional Qualification in Probation (DipPS, DipSW with PQF, or equivalent recognised by HMPPS).
Experience of managing medium to high-risk cases and applying professional judgment in risk assessment and sentence planning.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
Confident working collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS.
