This business has seen significant growth over recent years, including high capital investment in plant equipment and further investment in its infrastructure and people to remain at the forefront of its industry.
As part of its continued development, the company is now seeking an experienced Process Optimisation Engineer to lead process improvement projects.
The Role:
We are seeking a Process Optimisation Engineer to drive performance optimisation at our client's processing plant. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in improving recovery rates, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimisation: Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to the recovery of non-ferrous metals using eddy current technology and supporting systems.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyse, and interpret operational data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare regular performance reports and dashboards using advanced Excel techniques (e.g., Power Query, pivot tables, VBA, macros).
Technical Troubleshooting: Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to investigate technical issues in the separation process and recommend solutions to improve equipment reliability and throughput.
Project Management: Lead improvement projects from concept through implementation, including process trials, equipment upgrades, and procedural changes.
Stakeholder Communication: Present findings, recommendations, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, from shop floor to senior management.
KPI Development & Monitoring: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to throughput, metal recovery efficiency, downtime, and yield.
Training & Support: Support plant teams in understanding new processes and improvements. Develop training materials and provide coaching as needed.
Other Duties: Undertake other tasks as required, within the scope of the role, to achieve company objectives.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
Proven experience in a technical improvement, process engineering, or continuous improvement role (ideally within waste processing or recycling).
Knowledge of eddy current separation and materials recovery from IBA or similar streams.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including use of Power Query, VBA/macros, pivot tables, and data visualization).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and drive improvements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage across all functions and levels within the organisation.
Experience in leading process improvement projects.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.Desirable:
Knowledge of other non-ferrous separation technologies (e.g., sensor-based sorting).
Use and understanding of Power BI.
