Process Safety Engineer - Chemicals Manufacturing - Cheshire - £60k-72k + benefits
We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading UK-based chemical manufacturer seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to strengthen its on-site Process Safety Management (PSM) framework. This role is based at a Top Tier COMAH site and is ideal for a candidate who thrives on technical ownership, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead critical PSM activities and act as a technical authority for process safety compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Lead HAZOPs, HACs, and risk assessments across the site.
*
Manage the MoC process and apply PHA tools (e.g., LOPA, SIL).
*
Provide process safety input to capital and modification projects.
*
Investigate incidents using Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions.
*
Prepare for COMAH inspections and support ISO9001/14001 audits
What We’re Looking For:
*
Degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Process Safety.
*
Practical experience with HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, RCA, MoC and PHA techniques.
*
Strong grasp of COMAH, DSEAR, and regulatory compliance.
*
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
