Astute's Power Team are working with a growing Waste Management company in the UK and are recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join the team at the newest Energy from Waste facility being built in Cheshire.
As the Procurement Manager you will be responsible for coordinating all procurement activities inline with the business strategy and procurement processes. You'll identify and manage key suppliers capable of delivering a competitive advantage to the plant. You'll be working with both internal and external suppliers to deliver cost saving initiatives through effective negotiation, working closely with the Head of Procurement.

Responsibilities and duties of the Procurement Manager role
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for:
Oversee supplier qualification processes and managing ongoing supplier relationships.
Coordinated Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, including bid receipt, market comparisons, evaluation, analysis, and clarification.
Lead tender management efforts for scheduled maintenance outages.
Executed end-to-end procurement activities, including contract negotiations, award decisions, post-award management, and dispute resolution.
Managing purchase order issuance and expediting processes to ensure timely delivery.
Implementing cost reduction initiatives and supplier quality assurance programs.
Conducting performance analysis and compliance reviews of suppliers, determining the need for contract amendments or extensions.
Compiling procurement data to support cost reporting and the annual budgeting process.
Delivered training and guidance to site personnel on procurement systems and processes.
Managing supplier engagement through database enhancement, supplier visits, and participation in technical conferences.
Directing facility staff in the preparation and coordination of RFPs and procurement documentation.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A bachelor's degree ideally in Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement or similar
MCIPS certification is highly desired, working towards would be considered with relevant experience
Personal skills
The Procurement Manager role would suit someone who has:
Extensive stakeholder management experience
At least five years' experience working in a similar environment such as Power Generation, Waste Management, Petrochemical, COMAH etc
Proficient in the use of MS Office suit including Word, Excel, Dynamic 365 and MS Project
Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modelling, contracts and change management
Ability to travel to other sites as required
Able to clearly communicate with stakeholders and manage relationships effectively
