The Role
An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a Product Engineer to take an active role in the design and enhancement of a diverse product range. This is a hands-on position that blends creative problem-solving with solid technical knowledge to develop practical, high-quality, and production-ready solutions.
You’ll collaborate closely with production, procurement, and commercial teams to deliver reliable and efficient designs that meet industry standards and performance requirements. The position also involves 3D modelling, prototyping, and testing, as well as supporting product launches and maintaining technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and improve products using 2D/3D CAD tools.
* Produce accurate design calculations, bills of materials, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
* Review and refine existing designs to enhance performance and reduce costs.
* Prepare and maintain technical files, manuals, and assembly documentation.
* Plan and coordinate engineering tasks to ensure on-time delivery of projects.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
* Work cross-functionally with commercial teams to assess new product opportunities and technical feasibility.
* Support supplier engagement and the introduction of new components or assemblies.
* Consider production capabilities and assembly processes during design to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
The Candidate
Qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HND or Degree level).
Strong electrical design skills with experience across low-voltage or circuit protection systems preferred.
Sound understanding of UK electrical standards and compliance requirements.
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or PTC Creo.
Confident using Microsoft Excel; knowledge of ERP or MRP systems advantageous.
Practical understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
Proven ability to manage projects from concept through to production
.
The Package
Salary: £30,000- £40,000, dependent on skills and experience.
Annual company performance-related bonus.
