Production Engineer – Electrical Bias
Location: Walsall
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £38-42k + Benefits
The role:
Our client is seeking a Production Engineer to join a growing team who will be responsible for providing electrical designs, production engineering support, and delivering accurate information to ensure a smooth transition from new product introduction (NPI) through to full-scale manufacturing.
You will play a critical role in supporting existing manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring that all production engineering deliverables are completed in line with manufacturing start dates. This position also involves mentoring apprentices and colleagues, fostering teamwork, and contributing to a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide accurate production engineering data to meet project deadlines.
* Support NPI processes and ensure design for manufacture principles are met.
* Collaborate with Health & Safety teams to maintain a safe working environment.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives through SQCDP measures.
* Actively support problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
* Contribute to the accuracy of BOMs, item cards, ECNs, and engineering capacity planning tools.
* Mentor and guide apprentices and colleagues, ensuring technical knowledge is shared.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, and legal requirements.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or production engineering.
* Strong background in new product introduction and engineering for manufacture.
* Working knowledge of relevant design standards (UL508a, LVD, EMC, EN60204).
* Proficient in CAD software and electrical design from concept to production.
* Experience in project management and planning with multiple variables.
* Ability to deliver innovative solutions and think creatively under pressure.
Qualifications:
* Electrical and Electronic Engineering (HNC or NVQ equivalent)
* Excellent communication skills (1-to-1 and group settings).
* Strong problem-solving mindset with a "can-do" attitude
