Job Title: Production Engineer
* Location: Durham
* Salary: £45,000 per annum
* Hours: 38 Hours Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm & Friday 8am to 12.30pm
Job Overview:
The Production Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes on the shop floor. The role is critical in minimizing downtime, ensuring quality, and maintaining a safe working environment, while also supporting production planning, programming, and staff training.
Key Responsibilities:

Prevent job stoppages and minimize machine downtime.
*
Ensure all production processes comply with health and safety regulations.
*
Program CNC jobs according to the production schedule.
*
Support quality control efforts to maintain high product standards.
*
Provide clear and detailed setup sheets for shop floor operators.
*
Train both new and existing employees on programs developed.
*
Provide holiday cover as required by the business.
*
Prove out programs before releasing them to machine operators.
*
Support continuous improvement initiatives on new and existing jobs.

Required Skills & Experience:
Essential:

Time-served, apprentice-trained engineer with extensive hands-on manufacturing experience across varied products.

Background working in AS9100 or a similarly regulated quality environment.
*
Strong machining and quality control knowledge across various materials and manufacturing processes.
*
In-depth understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
*
Proven experience in delivering and sustaining change management projects.
Desirable:
*
Experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
*
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*
Ability to program both offline and directly at the machine.
*
Background in continuous improvement and process optimization.
*
Practical experience in both milling and turning operations.
