Production Maintenance Engineer
Location: Christchurch
Reporting to: Production Manager
This is a hands-on role at the heart of a busy production environment, where you'll take ownership of keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently. You'll be responsible for maintaining equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and helping the wider team hit production targets safely and consistently.
You'll lead day-to-day maintenance activity across the site, working closely with production to ensure equipment performs at its best. A big part of the role is planning ahead-developing preventative and predictive maintenance routines that reduce disruption and improve overall performance.
Alongside this, you'll manage and support a small maintenance team, making sure work is carried out safely, effectively, and to a high standard. You'll also take the lead on responding to breakdowns, identifying root causes, and putting longer-term fixes in place.
There's a strong focus on continuous improvement, so you'll regularly review equipment performance, look for ways to increase efficiency, and support the introduction of new machinery when required. You'll also keep on top of maintenance records, budgets, spare parts, and external contractors.

Experience in a similar maintenance role within a manufacturing or production setting
A solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems
A practical, problem-solving approach with the ability to make decisions under pressure

An interest in continuous improvement and efficient ways of working
Additional qualifications as Production Maintenance Engineer that would be useful

You'll suit this role if you enjoy being on the ground, solving problems as they arise, and working as part of a team to keep things moving. It's a role where you can make a real impact on day-to-day operations while helping to drive longer-term improvements.
