The Opportunity
CAF Rail Services, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of railway systems & vehicles is hiring a Production Manager for the Northern Rail Project at Neville Hill Depot. The Production Manager is responsible for Leading a high-performing team of 2 Team Leaders and 8 technicians, ensuring that all corrective and modification work is planned, prioritised, and executed efficiently and correctly keeping the fleet safe, reliable, and on schedule. With a focus on:

Key Deliverables in Year One include:
Fully grasp and translate a newly signed service contract (including all updated metrics) into actionable plans your team can execute.
Build technical credibility with the team—understand the job inside out so you’re a go-to leader.
Lead from the front: be visible on the floor, answer technical questions, and foster a solutions-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and prioritisation of all corrective repairs and modifications
Control and balance team workload to maximise efficiency and meet service demands
Provide ongoing technical support, working closely with team leaders and technicians
Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineer to schedule maintenance activities aligned with contract requirements
Release and manage Work Orders (WOs) in GMAO for fleet projects and campaigns
Develop structured plans for complex or high-impact activities with clear progress reporting
Monitor production workflows and pivot as needed to protect performance targets
Liaise directly with the on-site client and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment
Coach, mentor, and develop team members—bringing out untapped potential in a mostly strong, capable crew
Accurately maintain all relevant documentation in GMAO and other digital systems
The Candidate:
Strong technical background (minimum Level 3 or equivalent)
Proven leadership of teams (Team Leader or Manager)
Experience in production planning & scheduling
Proficient in MS Office & electronic records
Meticulous attention to detail
Desirable
Rail experience preferred, but exceptional transferable experience considered
Familiarity with corrective/modification workflows
Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities
Sound judgement and a calm, strategic mindset
Collaborative and people-focused leadership style
