Job Description
We are recruiting a Production Manager for a growing and stable manufacturing business based in Basildon. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company that takes pride in delivering high-quality services to both its customers and employees.
About the Role:
As the Production Manager, you’ll be leading operations in a medium-sized manufacturing environment. Responsible for ensuring consistent achievement of KPI’s related to cost, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This role involves planning, coordinating, and controlling production processes while driving continuous improvement. The successful candidate must build strong, collaborative relationships with production staff, cross-functional departments, and key stakeholders to support operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production staff to foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
* Onboard new team members, conduct probation reviews, regular performance appraisals and any disciplinaries.
* Crisis Management – respond quickly and effectively to unexpected challenges or workflow disruptions, while maintaining continuity and performance.
* Actively contribute to a safe and positive work environment, demonstrating a strong sense of integrity, and accountability.
* Lead and manage the production team to meet daily and weekly production targets.
* Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet requirements, responding quickly to changes.
* Estimate, negotiate, and agree on budgets and timelines with both clients and internal stakeholders.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive productivity and quality.
* Analyse production performance and report regularly to directors.
* Work closely with the directorship and management teams to ensure the seamless running of operations.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Thrives in environments of continual change, driving success through excellent communication and people management skills
* Innovative and logical approaches to problem solving.
* Strong understanding of production processes, planning, and scheduling.
* A background in lean manufacturing or a continuous improvement mindset is highly beneficial.
* Experience in mechanical engineering is essential; knowledge of welding, fabrication, or sheet metal processes is a strong advantageBefore You Apply
