Job Description

Our client is a world leader for the supply of Work Class ROVs (Remotely Opbservation Class ROVs, Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems providing innovative solutions for challenging deep water intervention operations. Design and manufacture of these systems is based at the facility at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire which is part of a worldwide company with headquarters in Houston, USA. These products are known worldwide for unrivalled quality and technical excellence utilising a wealth of experience, delivering products that perform reliably in hostile environments. Job purpose: Reporting to the Senior Production Planner and working closely with Sales and Procurement teams. You will carry out planning for all areas of production in the business and monitor operational performance together with the Senior Production Planner, Purchasing Supervisor, Production Coordinator, Warehouse Team Leader and Operations Manager to facilitate continuous improvement. You must have good analytical, written and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be in an existing planning role within an SME manufacturing environment with a strong competence in MRP/ERP systems Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks) • Extensive experience/knowledge of MRP systems • Resource/capacity planning using MRP and reports • Generating reports and analysing data • Creation of ‘Work To’ lists & work orders • Liaise with sales/production/transport departments • Maintain KPI’s • Reporting on performance • Prioritising & Scheduling work-, short-, medium- and long-term demand • SME Manufacturing background (as opposed to FMCG) • Monitor & merge production efficiencies • Experience/exposure to purchasing/procurement • Working & contributing towards creation of internal SLAs • Reviewing shortages and expediting priorities. • Monitor all materials for works orders. • Make continuous improvements. Accountabilities: (Deliverables) • Manufacturing orders in progress, maintain and improve internal OTIF. • On-time / Late Manufacturing orders • On-time / Late deliveries, expediting all parts associated with works orders and purchase orders. • Planned production time vs. Actual time. • Planned cost of production vs. Actual cost. • Planned consumption of materials vs. Actual consumption, Net worth Inventory. • Maintain equipment usage chart and skills matrix. • On-time / Late purchase orders • Critical on-hand stock (Trial Kitting) • Raising, maintaining, and closing all applicable works orders Education/Qualifications (essential): • Satisfactory level of basic maths & English ideally evidence by GCSE grades A-C Education/Qualifications (desirable): • Educated in a technical or business management field Technical Competencies (essential): • Proven competency in manufacturing resource planning / materials requirements planning. • Prior SME manufacturing. Technical Competencies (desirable): • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Key Skills: • MRP system functionality and knowledge • Microsoft Excel to intermediate standard ideally: (pivot tables, vlookup’s advantageous) • Production planning processes. • Good communication skills • Good organisational and motivational skills required • Ability to work within a team and support colleagues • Committed to the success of the production plan • Exceptional IT skills Experience (essential): • Previous experience of manufacturing resource planning / materials requirements. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings • Extensive experience of having worked within a manufacturing environment including more recently within a production planning role • Extensive experience/knowledge of MRP systems • Experience of having worked within an SME size Manufacturing business • Prior exposure to/involvement in purchasing/procurement activity & duties • Ability to work to stringent deadlines under pressure • Ability to work with minimum supervision • Sound communication skills both verbal and written
