Job Description

PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER

  * Birmingham

  * £45,000 - £46,000 (inc shift allowance)

We’re looking for a hands-on Production Supervisor to drive performance, quality, and efficiency across our manufacturing operations. You’ll lead a team on shift, ensure smooth production flow, and champion continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Supervisor to join a thriving manufacturing organisation, where there are genuine long term career prospects available.

You’ll be at the centre of daily operations, making sure everything runs safely, smoothly, and on time:

Commutable from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Smethwick, Rowley Regis, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Aldridge, Hockley, Quinton, Aldridge, Darlaston, Willenhalll, Bilston, Bloxwich, Wombourne and Oldbury

Key Responsibilities

  * Lead by example to ensure full compliance with health, safety & environmental standards

  * Ensure adherence to quality systems, controls, and standard work

  * Deliver the production schedule, ensuring on-time customer supply

  * Coach, train, and develop team members; maintain training matrices

  * Manage daily staffing levels to meet changing demand

  * Maintain 5S standards and a clean, efficient workplace

  * Monitor performance (including OEE) and take corrective action in real time

  * Oversee machine outputs, escalate issues, and support maintenance response

  * Plan changeovers to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency (SMED mindset)

  * Ensure TPM activities are completed and effective

  * Use SAP/ERP systems to track stock and demand

  * Update visual management boards and production planning tools

  * Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives (quality, waste reduction, changeover reduction)

  * Handle performance and conduct issues where required

Requirements

  * ILM Level 2 or equivalent

  * Experience of supervising within a manufacturing environment, ideally fast paced

  * Happy to work Double Days – Monday to Friday

  * Knowledge of SMED and TPM

  * Calm, organised, and proactive under pressure

  * Strong communicator who gets the best from their team

  * Data-driven mindset with a focus on results and improvement

  * A “can-do” attitude

  * Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvements
