Overview
Our client manufactures different safety equipment for the marine industry. They are looking for a Production Technician who will help Support Cell leaders in achieving their monthly production targets and set all equipment within the manufacturing area to produce parts to current drawings and required quality standards.
Key responsibilities
Test requirements and support Engineering functions that support the Production environment.
Set machines to produce parts to current drawings and to satisfy the quality requirements of all processes.
Train and supervise Operators as required, in all production tasks.
Ensure operators are aware of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for each job and promote the use of PPE to protect against job specific hazards.
Ensure that guarding on machines is adequate and in good working order before the operator commences work and sign-off the daily Inspection & Test Certificates.
Advise the Production Engineer and/or Manufacturing Manager of any equipment malfunction to affect its prompt repair.
Understand and inform others of the requirements of COSHH Risk Assessments and the safe handling of materials.
Monitor the accuracy, legibility and relevance of PAT’s (Procedure for Assembly and Test), suggesting updates where necessary.
Ensure the continuous compliance of the company’s ESD procedures.
Reclaim failed products where required, minimising accumulated levels of quarantined material.
Work to actively reduce the cost of scrap, re-work and repairs.
Undertake preventative maintenance tasks and repairs as required.
Ensure Portable Appliance Testing, Fixing Wiring, Control of sub-contractors and Permit to Work systems are applied to the relevant procedures.
Skills and Qualifications required
Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree or significant relevant experience,
Clear communicator; able to discuss ideas across disciplines and skill levels,
Hands on practical Engineering skills,
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills,
Very good attention to detail,
Experience with plastic injection mouldings,
Experience with ultrasonic welding beneficial
