Who are we looking for?
We have an exciting opportunity to become a Progress Coach and join a fun and creative collaborative team who work with both curriculum and support teams to make a real difference to our learners experience and journey at BSDC. Every day is different.
You will support a caseload of learners across levels and courses and act as the first point of contact for engagement and pastoral support. As a Progress Coach you will ensure that your learners are positively and effectively guided and supported to achieve at every stage of their educational journey from enrolment through to next steps and progression by delivering enriching Intensive Support Courses, clubs and supportive one-to-one meetings where barriers to learning can be identified.
The Progress Coach role is to help to support and encourage our young people. We have a team of 13 Progress Coaches, each with a different learner cohort. Their responsibility is to offer group and pastoral support to their cohort which is approximately 200 learners. The role encompasses two main roles;
Course and Clubs
You will deliver weekly Intensive Support courses such as Self-Care and Mental health awareness, behaviour management or motivation to small groups. These are pre-planned for you but you will need to be able to differentiate these specific to your learners.
Learners’ Personal Development
You will oversee the pastoral support and be an advocate for your cohort of learners. This can range from attendance monitoring, representation at meetings, liaison with parents to ongoing pastoral and emotional support and safeguarding referrals. You will work with internal support systems and external organisations to get support for your learner. Progress coaches support learners on their individual learner journey through BE social clubs, positive intervention courses and BE Independent.

Experience of working with young people in a supportive capacity is essential and you will need to be an excellent communicator. You will also have exceptional administrative and organisational skills and be a confident I.T. practitioner who is willing to embrace new learning technologies.
