Project Buyer / Maternity Cover 15 months FTC / Norwich / Salary £36,000 per annum
Position 1 Recruitment are seeking a highly motivated Project Buyer to join a dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional to advance their career while contributing to a fast-paced, hands-on environment within the oil and gas sector.
This is a full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday.

As Project Buyer will be responsible for procuring materials and services in alignment with business requirements, utilising both existing and newly approved project suppliers. Focused on maintaining a resilient supply chain that consistently meets project demands in terms of quality, delivery, and pre/post-sales service, while ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
Fully compliant with the company’s Management Systems, incorporating Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* To be the point of contact between suppliers and the organisation for commercial-related issues.
* To negotiate delivery and pricing that supports business demand while remaining within budgetary control.
* To manage existing suppliers to ensure they consistently meet project requirements.
* To seek and identify new suppliers who can improve the effectiveness of business activities, and, in collaboration with QA and Engineering, evaluate the supplier’s capability to meet specific needs.
* To liaise with suppliers to ensure they understand project requirements, particularly regarding on-time delivery and quality, and that they take the necessary actions to support them.
* In collaboration with Engineering and QA Teams, provide detailed specifications of products and services required, including necessary certification management according to project requirements.
* In cases where non-conforming products are supplied, progress the supplier’s investigation into the root cause, ensuring both corrective and preventative action plans are reported, and, in conjunction with QA, review their effectiveness and assist in the recovery of associated costs.
* To have approval authority for purchases within spending policies, ensuring all purchases have the required authorisation and are made within approved budget limits.
* To ensure duties are performed in full compliance with prevailing external regulations relating to personal protection, Health & Safety, and industry best practice, and to report any observed non-compliance to the relevant manager.
The successful Project Buyer will have proven experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, with strong attention to detail, high-quality standards, and a proactive approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organisational ability, and the capacity to multitask under pressure are essential. A CIPS Diploma is desirable. Experience in manufacturing is required, with MOD contract experience and knowledge of GS3001 advantageous.
