Project Controls Lead – Major Long-Term Build Project – Bridgwater

We are seeking a Project Controls Lead to join a major project in Bridgwater, providing critical insight and control across cost, schedule, risk and change management functions.

The Role
Reporting to the Project Commercial Lead, you will establish and maintain robust project controls across all core disciplines—cost, schedule, risk, change, and reporting. You will ensure project performance is accurately tracked, analysed, and communicated, enabling effective leadership decisions and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
*
Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor expenditure and forecast costs, ensuring alignment to baseline budgets.

Manage the full change control process and maintain associated documentation.
*
Oversee development and integration of project schedules (Primavera P6, MS Project), ensuring alignment across workstreams and stakeholders.
*
Identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities; maintain project risk registers.
*
Produce dashboards and data visualisations (Power BI), deliver progress reports, and present insights to senior leadership and enabling services.
*
Ensure compliance with internal controls, contract requirements and regulatory standards.
*
Collaborate closely with project managers, commercial teams, planners and client representatives to ensure consistent controls and transparent communication.
Your Profile
*
Proven experience leading project controls on major construction, engineering or infrastructure projects.
*
Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, risk management and reporting methodologies.
*
Proficient in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and Power BI.
*
Ability to interrogate contractor schedules and integrate them into master programmes.
*
Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
*
Familiarity with NEC contracts and large-scale project environments is highly beneficial.
Desirable
*
Chartered or working towards chartership (ACostE, APM or similar).
