Project Engineer (Civil – Wastewater Infrastructure)
Location: Thames Valley area / Hybrid
Type: 6-month contract (initial), potential to extend
Rate: £45 - £60 PH – Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
About the Role
Ceto Talent are recruiting for our client, seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Civil) to join the infrastructure team on a major capital programme across the Thames Valley region. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer to work on large-scale wastewater (pipeline) projects, though candidates with clean water infrastructure experience will also be considered.
In this role, you’ll work as part of the intelligent client team, under the direction of a Principal Engineer, to ensure projects meet asset standards, comply with regulations, and deliver best-value solutions that support long-term capital investment goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the development of a portfolio of infrastructure projects to meet defined needs, delivering best-value solutions across various sites.
* Ensure Contractors and Consultants comply with scope requirements, asset standards, legislation, CDM Regulations, and health & safety expectations.
* Provide technical design sign-off, acting as the interface between Asset Management and Capital Delivery teams.
* Offer robust technical assurance during project delivery, commissioning, and asset handover.
* Identify and mitigate project risks to reduce overall programme and delivery costs.
* Support the implementation of an intelligent client model to drive delivery excellence throughout the capital investment lifecycle.
Skills & Experience
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline).
* Chartered Status (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant professional institution (preferred).
* Post-graduate experience, including recent experience in the water industry on projects aligned with this role.
* Strong track record of leadership, managing teams of 10+ people across comparable projects.
* Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring technical and delivery excellence.
* Experienced in reviewing and signing off team outputs, with accountability for submissions to the client.
* Candidates with slightly different profiles may still be considered, subject to approval, based on demonstrated capability and relevant experience.
