Project Engineer
Location: Bromsgrove (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Our client, a growing MSP, is hiring an experienced Project Engineer to scope, design and deliver a broad range of infrastructure, cloud, networking and security projects.
This is a hands-on technical role offering plenty of ownership. You'll work directly with customers, taking projects from initial consultation and technical scoping through to implementation and handover.
What you'll do
Scope, design and deliver infrastructure and cloud projects for a varied customer base
Deploy Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, Hyper-V / VMware and backup & DR solutions
Deliver Microsoft 365 and Azure projects, including migrations and infrastructure improvements
Configure switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs and wireless networks
Implement endpoint protection, patch management and DLP solutions
Support security assessments including Cyber Essentials, PCI-DSS and vulnerability assessments
Provide technical consultancy, clearly explaining solutions, options and trade-offs to customers
Work with account managers to define project scope, timelines, deliverables and quotations
Produce accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams and configuration notes
Attend customer sites for installations and complex technical work where required You'll work closely with customers, account managers and technical colleagues to ensure projects are well scoped, delivered effectively and aligned with customer requirements.
What we're looking for
5+ years' experience within an MSP environment, ideally as a Project Engineer or 3rd Line Engineer with significant project responsibilities
Strong hands-on networking knowledge covering switching, routing, VLANs, trunking, LACP and STP
Experience configuring commercial firewalls, ideally WatchGuard and/or Meraki
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID and virtualisation
Experience delivering Microsoft 365 and Azure projects
Practical experience with VPNs, wireless networking and backup / disaster recovery
Strong customer-facing and technical consultancy skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites when required CompTIA Network+, Microsoft and relevant networking or firewall certifications would be advantageous, although practical MSP experience and a strong service-focused approach are the priority.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of technical projects, communicating directly with customers and working across multiple technologies in a fast-moving MSP environment.
