We are working with an engineering business that has built a strong reputation for designing, building, and integrating specialist fluid handling and fuel management systems used across the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.
Operating from their headquarters in Chichester, they deliver end-to-end engineered solutions that help major operators handle hazardous fluids safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to strengthen their engineering delivery team.
About the job
This is a technically hands-on position focused on the design, integration, and delivery of electrical and instrumentation projects across oil and gas and related environments.
The Project Engineer will work on multiple projects ranging from £50K to £500K in value, supporting system upgrades, replacements, and new build skids.
The role combines technical problem solving with client-facing responsibility, ensuring that every project is scoped accurately, delivered safely, and completed to specification.
You will be joining an established engineering team where quality, safety, and precision are at the core of everything they do.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Attend client sites to assess existing systems, diagnose faults, and capture technical requirements
Develop detailed project scopes, specifications, and proposals for upgrades or replacements
Oversee the technical delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and timelines
Collaborate with in-house electrical design engineers to review and validate designs
Coordinate with hydraulic consultants and third-party design approval bodies
Review HAZOP documentation and maintain oversight of technical compliance
Support the commercial team by defining technical requirements for bespoke designs
Provide technical advice to clients throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure all documentation, drawings, and quality records are accurate and up to date
Report progress and key project information to senior stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Project Engineer within oil and gas, petrochemical, or related fluid management sectors
Strong electrical and instrumentation background with understanding of control systems and schematics
Knowledge of hydraulic or fluid control systems, or willingness to learn
Experience delivering technically complex projects from concept to completion
Understanding of electrical design processes and compliance in hazardous or fuel-based environments
Familiar with CompEx or similar certification standards
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Confident working independently and managing multiple concurrent projects
HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline
Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas to safe regions
