Project Engineer - Water & Wastewater

Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking to grow your career in the water industry?
Our client, a well-established engineering company in Co. Carlow, is seeking a Project Engineer to deliver key water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to handover.
You'll be involved in the full project lifecycle - combining office-based work with regular site visits - and working closely with Project Managers, clients, suppliers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and deliver water and wastewater infrastructure projects through design, procurement, administration and handover
Develop preliminary designs, design drawings, technical reports and calculations
Understand and manage all contractual obligations for assigned projects
Review and evaluate client specifications; liaise with clients and their representatives
Provide technical and project support to the Project Manager
Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, ensuring full compliance with specifications
Prepare technical submissions and reports for client approval
Generate and monitor contract programmes of work; update progress against programme
Plan and schedule resources and subcontractors to meet project deadlines
Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments
Implement project quality control procedures
Track project finances and report on costs
Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and Client Project/Resident Engineers
Carry out site surveys and generate work packages
Maintain and update Site Safety Files in line with HSA regulations
Attend site for safety audits and project supervision
Update construction drawings with vendor packages (AutoCAD)
Manage document control for all aspects of the contract
Maintain variation and change order logs
Compile O&M manuals
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience in a Project Engineer role
Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry (highly desirable)
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, including updating construction drawings and coordinating between vendors and contractors
Knowledge and experience of plant design, construction and commissioning
Experience managing contractors and subcontractors on live projects
Strong technical, delivery and commercial skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive, practical and flexible approach; able to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to meet business objectives
