Job Description

Project Lead – Electrical & Renewable Projects Department: Operations & Projects Reporting to: Operations Director / Head of Projects Location: Peterborough (with travel to client sites as required) Role Summary As a Project Manager specialising in electrical and renewable energy projects, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and industrial installations. You will manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver high-quality, compliant, and sustainable solutions. Your role will span from initial client engagement through to project completion, ensuring all work aligns with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental best practices. Key Responsibilities * Lead the design, planning, procurement, and delivery of electrical and renewable energy projects (e.g., solar PV, battery storage, EV charging). * Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to client specifications. * Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver integrated energy solutions. * Develop detailed project plans, quotations, and technical documentation tailored to client needs. * Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), and company H&S policies. * Conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and resolve on-site issues with innovative and sustainable solutions. * Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting, including post-project reviews and lessons learned. * Mentor and support engineering teams, ensuring quality installations and technical excellence. * Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders. * Participate in resource planning, engineering scheduling, and sales pipeline meetings. * Support recurring client services, maintenance, and service contracts. * Identify and mitigate project risks, escalating where necessary. * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and business development opportunities in the renewable sector. Skills & Experience * Proven experience managing electrical and/or renewable energy projects. * Strong understanding of electrical systems design, installation, and commissioning. * Knowledge of renewable technologies such as solar PV, battery storage, and EV infrastructure. * Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. * Proficient in project planning, cost estimation, and material procurement. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. * Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools (desirable). * Familiarity with NICEIC standards and QS responsibilities (preferred). * Commercial awareness and a client-focused mindset. Desirable Qualifications * Relevant electrical or renewable energy qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND). * Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP). * NICEIC Qualified Supervisor status (advantageous)
