Overview:
Typically individual contributor roles within Nuclear Discipline, Skills and Capability.
Works as part of the Nuclear, Skills and Capability team with a high degree of technical autonomy, within established nuclear procedures and practices
Performs a variety of the most complex tasks around Nuclear Baseline management, Nuclear Training and Nuclear Strategic Workforce management.
Applies knowledge and experience to systems and processes to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems within the area of responsibility of Nuclear Discipline, Skills and Capability.
Proposes improvements to nuclear discipline processes
Contributes or may act as a lead on technical governance nuclear discipline processes
Provides specialist nuclear discipline technical advice, training and guidance to other professionals, technical staff and/or customers, particularly Fuctional Nuclear Capability Teams
Establishes and maintains direct contact and interface with stakeholders in relation to the delivery of nuclear discipline projects
May act as a lead to co-ordinate team members to perform a variety of typically routine tasks (without direct reports)
Contributes to analysis on complex technical nuclear discipline problems to create solutions where precedent may not exist
Provides training, skills coaching and mentoring for less experienced team members and customers
Key Deliverables:
Perform a variety of the most complex tasks, around Nuclear Baseline management, Nuclear Training and Nuclear Strategic Workforce management, working autonomously within established procedures and practices
Apply technical knowledge and experience of nuclear capability principles, practices and processes
Use expertise to provide advice and guidance, and training to other professionals within project/team, and to other stakeholders and customers
Apply knowledge to resolve a wide range of complex technical situations, issues and problems associated with the area of responsibility of Nucler Discipline, Skills and Capability.
Act as a project focal point for nuclear discipline specific tasks, championing continuous improvement, ensuring best practices are adopted, and ensuring overall compliance to nuclear discipline strategy
Review and approve solutions to problems or issues including all documentation within own limits of authority, or seek higher level of approval , where required.
Propose improvements to nuclear capability processes
Develop processes to ensure nuclear discipline quality requirements and standards are communicated and adhered to by team
Ensure nuclear discipline processes used by the team meet all governance and business requirements
Provide governance to a team or project over technical nuclear discipline standards
Ensure Product Safety requirements and Intellectual Property are considered in activities
Participate in activities to raise the level of team capability and skills to meet current/future requirements
May guide and advise other team members on the quality of their work
May contribute to management reporting on performance to schedule, cost, qualityKey Skills & Experience:
Considerable experience in nuclear capability, training and shipbuilding
Experience in defence or safety critical industry
Good understanding of how own activities integrate into the activities of their own team.
Good awareness of activities of other teams
Requires a breadth and depth of specialist technical nuclear capability and shipbuilding knowledge and a broad experience of processes, data, systems and the business environment
Competent in processes, procedures and standards related to nuclear capability and shipbuilding.
Full proficiency in required tools and techniques
Role model for SHEQ and champions procedures for safety controls and hazards awareness in a high risk operational environment.
Ability to communicate and exchange ideas effectively orally, verbally and in writing.
Collaborates with others to achieve goals and objectives.
Ability to interpret and communicate technical instructions and knowledge
Demonstrates customer focus, demonstrates diplomacy and tactfulness in customer communications
Analyses the most complex technical problems and deliver solutions where precedent may not exist
Understands and utilises recognised business approaches, techniques and tools for problem solving
