Project Manager - Flood Defence Programme
Are you an experienced Project Manager from a flood defence, environmental or water-sector civil engineering background looking to lead a meaningful programme that protects communities and landscapes from flooding?
We are supporting a major engineering consultancy delivering a significant flood risk and resilience programme in the Lake District on behalf of a national public-sector environmental body. This is a high-impact role where you will play a key part in safeguarding vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure in one of the UK's most unique natural environments.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for leading the delivery of a complex flood defence programme from planning through to delivery. Working closely with engineers, environmental specialists, contractors and key public-sector stakeholders, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably and to programme.
This is a Hybrid role with 2 days required on-site. The work is based in the Lake District, so will suits someone comfortable with staying locally 1-2 nights per week. Accomodation is paid for by the company.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing delivery of flood defence and river engineering projects
Coordinating multidisciplinary teams including civil, hydraulic and environmental specialists
Managing programme, budget, risk and stakeholder engagement
Working closely with a national environmental regulator/client and delivery partners
Ensuring projects meet environmental, regulatory and sustainability requirements
Supporting construction phase delivery and contractor coordination Essential Experience
To be considered, you must have experience delivering civil engineering projects within the water or environmental sector.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with:
Proven Project Management experience on flood defence, flood risk, river engineering or water infrastructure projects
Experience working with major public-sector environmental or water clients
Background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or water infrastructure delivery
Experience managing site-based infrastructure works Please Note
This role requires direct experience within flood defence, water, environmental or civil infrastructure projects.
Unfortunately, generalist project managers from sectors such as banking, finance, IT, or non-infrastructure industries will not be suitable for this position.
This is an imminent start so applicants available to start in March will be prioritised.
