Job Description

Project Manager – Mechanical (Subcontract) – Near Wincanton
£300–£350 per day | 12-Month Contract | Start July 2026
A well-established M&E subcontractor is seeking a Project Manager or a Mechanical Site Manager willing to step up, to lead the delivery of a high-end accommodation/hotel and mixed-use development near Wincanton. This is a key role on a flagship project with a combined value of £4.4M (£2.2M Mechanical & £2.2M Electrical).
Working as part of a collaborative site team, you will oversee both the mechanical and electrical packages with a high emphasis on mechnaical ensuring high standards of delivery on a prestigious scheme.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of M&E installations on site, reporting into senior leadership while working closely with the main contractor and internal stakeholders with the main focus being mechanical.
Key responsibilities include:
  * Managing day-to-day site operations across mechanical works
  * Coordinating and supervising a team including:
      * 1 Working Foreman
      * 3–5 Engineers full time
  * Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, quality, and safety standards
  * Liaising with the main contractor and project stakeholders
  * Working closely with internal support including:
      * Mechanical Head of Contracts
      * Contracts Director
      * Electrical Contracts Manager
  * Supporting the formation and management of subcontractor and supplier relationships where required
  * Driving productivity, resolving site issues, and maintaining programme delivery
The Project
  * Sector: High-end hotel / accommodation with mixed-use elements
  * Location: Near Wincanton
  * Package Value: £2.2M Mechanical
  * Programme Duration: Approx. 12 months
  * Role Type: Subcontractor (not main contractor)
This is a technically interesting scheme involving high-spec finishes and coordinated M&E delivery across multiple building uses.
Requirements
  * Proven experience as a Project Manager or a Site Supervisor willing to step up delivering mainly mechanical installations
  * Ability to oversee both mechanical and electrical works
  * Strong leadership experience managing site teams
  * Experience working within a subcontractor environment
  * Excellent coordination and communication skills
  * CSCS card preferred
Package
  * Day Rate: £300–£350 per day
  * Contract Type: Subcontract (self-employed)
  * Duration: 12 months
  * No additional benefits (standard subcontract arrangement)
