Role Overview
The Project Manager will develop and implement project execution strategies using a cross-functional team to deliver projects safely, within company policies, and achieving established goals within agreed scope, cost, schedule, and quality. Acting as a SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person), this role provides a single point of management contact with the customer.
Key Responsibilities
Set and maintain project execution strategies and plans that align with company procedures, safety, environmental, quality, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
Develop, maintain, report, and trend an accurate project baseline.
Maximise use of Learning from Experience (LFE) and disseminate new LFE to relevant functions.
Lead and coach project team members, ensuring competence and timely resolution of industrial relations and HR issues.
Implement and maintain effective communication within the project team and stakeholders.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while maximising opportunities.
Control project scope and costs to agreed baselines.
Liaise with customer Programme Managers to align strategy and delivery plans.
Manage studies, internal design reviews, and provide input to Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP).
Review documentation and provide support through committees (e.g., PMPs, MSC).
Deliver the project compliant with legislation, company policies, and approved baselines.
Early identification and reporting of issues or concerns impacting project performance.
Propose and implement corrective actions to secure project objectives.
Maintain an effective and efficient integrated project team throughout the programme lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 8 years' experience as a Project Manager, preferably within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.
Degree in Project Management or a relevant discipline.
Membership of a recognised professional institution; chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
Strong understanding of planning, risk, and cost management principles at both programme and project levels.
Familiarity with stage-gate project delivery principles.
Knowledge of motivational factors affecting project teams and risk management techniques.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage cross-functional teams.
Desirable
Experience as a SQEP resource acting as the single management point of contact with customers.
Prior involvement in safety-critical environments and complex project delivery.
