Job Description
The Client:
A respected and long-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment, fit-out and new build projects across the commercial, education, leisure, healthcare and public sectors. With a consistent pipeline of complex and fast-paced schemes throughout London and the South East, they are now seeking a hands-on, site-based Project Manager to take full responsibility for an upcoming project.
The Role:
As Project Manager, you will take day-to-day control of a high-profile cinema refurbishment project located near Wimbledon, acting as both the lead on site and the key point of contact for the wider delivery team. You’ll oversee all aspects of site activity, subcontractor coordination, programme management and health & safety, ensuring the project runs to schedule and quality expectations. This is a self-employed, freelance position with an immediate start date.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the delivery of a cinema refurbishment project from site setup through to completion
• Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, quality and programme adherence
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers on site
• Act as the key site contact for internal teams, clients and consultants
• Monitor progress, report on issues and ensure deadlines are met
• Manage site paperwork, RAMS, inductions and health & safety compliance
• Take responsibility for delivering the project to a high standard, within budget and timeframe
Qualifications & Experience:
• Proven experience delivering refurbishment projects as a Site or Project Manager
• Strong understanding of construction processes and on-site coordination
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
• Able to take ownership of the site and manage multiple trades and suppliers
• Experience in leisure or cinema fit-out/refurbishment is advantageous but not essential
• Based within a reasonable commute of Wimbledon
Rate & Start Date:
• £300 – £350 per day (self-employed)
• Start date: Monday (immediate start)
• Ongoing project with potential for further work on future schemes
