Research Project Manager
London, Hybrid | £45,000 - £55,000 | 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract
We are seeking an experienced Research Project Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of a portfolio of rail-related research projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected organisation that plays a critical role in driving safety, innovation, and sustainability across Great Britain’s rail industry.
This role offers the chance to manage projects that influence industry standards, inform policy, and improve outcomes across rail operations, customer satisfaction, safety, infrastructure, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver multiple research projects (up to £200k in value) from initiation to completion, ensuring outputs are on time, within scope, and meet stakeholder expectations.
Define, plan, and control projects in line with organisational policies and processes, including risk, budget, and contract management.
Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering collaborative working with both internal colleagues and external partners.
Actively manage stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring strong relationships and successful project outcomes.
Provide accurate and timely project reporting, maintaining budgets, forecasts, and performance indicators.About You
A recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM PFQ) or equivalent hands-on experience.
Proven track record of successfully delivering projects with strong attention to detail.
Skilled in stakeholder and supplier management with the ability to influence, facilitate, and present effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt and thrive in a changing environment.
A collaborative team player who is customer-focused and committed to achieving results.
