Our privately owned client is a leading name within the enabling works industry with a group annual turnover in excess of £150M. They undertake technical civil engineering projects throughout the UK with values ranging up to £10M, and their services include demolition, basement construction, remediation, earthworks, civils, and concrete works. Their strong reputation for completing challenging projects has been built on delivery and trust.
With a low staff turnover, this specialist subcontractor, who also operate as a principal contractor on the majority of their projects, rarely recruits and this opportunity has arisen purely due to company expansion. About the opportunity:
Due to continued company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Project Manager who has proven experience of delivering projects valued up £10M. The initial project you will be managing is a £9M enabling works scheme in Great Yarmouth, programmed for 8 months, covering major civils, piling, groundworks, earthworks, and utility works.
As a Project Manager, you will join the company’s existing management team, reporting directly to the Operations Director, and will be responsible for the on-site management of this project, ensuring it is managed within time and budget. You will have direct responsibility for all site staff, ensuring they are motivated and able to complete the task at hand. As a Project Manager, you will have a clear understanding of the value of the contract and its duration, have a clear understanding of the client, project expectations, and requirements, and you’ll play a key role within their senior management team.
About the benefits and rewards:
For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £65,000 - £75,000 per annum however, specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability.
Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered including a car allowance or company car, and full subsistence for working away will be covered. Lastly, you’ll be put through relevant training and refresher courses and progression plans with be discussed and put in place so you have a streamlined development plan for the future.
About the requirements:
Suitable professionals will ideally be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management and will be able to show a strong history from site engineer level through to management over the last 5 - 10 years. This experience should have been gained whilst working for a reputable subcontractor or principal contractor who undertakes civil engineering and enabling works projects in the UK.
Regarding software, this client uses the usual Microsoft programmes, standard email functions and Asta Power Project for planning / programming works. Project Managers will be required to use all these tools.
