New Job Opportunity - Project Quality Engineer - 12 Month Contract inside IR35 - Based in Stafford

Project: Onshore HVDC EPC Project
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Quality Engineer to support the delivery of a major onshore HVDC transmission project under an EPC framework. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all project phases—from engineering through to commissioning—meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project-specific quality procedures in line with EPC contractual requirements
Oversee quality assurance and control across converter stations, HV equipment, civil works, mechanical installations, and HVDC control & protection systems
Ensure compliance with project specifications, EPC standards, and relevant IEC/EN regulations
Conduct audits of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to quality standards across manufacturing and site activities
Lead the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and closure
Establish and manage a structured Lessons Learned programme, embedding insights into current and future project phases
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), inspections, and commissioning activities, ensuring full documentation and traceability
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to embed quality throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor and report on quality KPIs, trends, and risks, driving continuous improvement across the EPC delivery chain
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven experience in quality engineering within large, complex, and safety-critical projects
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, EPC quality frameworks, and HVDC-related IEC standards (preferred)
Demonstrated experience in NCR management, root cause analysis, and supplier/subcontractor quality oversight
Experience implementing Lessons Learned processes and driving continuous improvement
Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across contractor and client organisations
