Job Description
Marble Talent group is actively seeking a Project Estimator to join a client of ours based in Hampshire on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
Project Quoting & Commercial Management
* Produce accurate, competitive project quotations ranging from £20k to £150k, occasionally exceeding £500k.
* Interpret specifications and drawings to prepare compliant quotes.
* Make commercially sound decisions on preliminaries, mark-ups, and margins to meet sales and profit targets.
* Compile quotation letters, draft programmes, and technical submissions for formal bids.
Site Assessment & Client Solutions
* Conduct site surveys to understand client requirements and design effective project solutions.
* Propose value-engineered and environmentally friendly options where applicable.
Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and compliant pricing for each quote.
* Secure supplier commitments to ensure delivery feasibility post-award.
Internal Process & Collaboration
* Present bids for internal approval through the Gate Process before submission.
* Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and delivery teams to align technical and commercial goals.
* Contribute to continuous improvements and innovation within the estimating function.
Reporting & Meetings
* Participate in client and labour meetings to clarify scope and technical details when required.
Candidate Profile
Essential
* Proven experience in producing HVAC/Gas project quotations (£20k–£150k; experience up to £500k+ is advantageous).
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and pre-designed schemes.
* Strong commercial awareness, including margin and markup management.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Smartsheet, and CRM systems (HubSpot advantageous).
* Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, both internal and external.
* Strong attention to detail.
Desirable
* Hands-on mechanical/HVAC & Gas experience or ‘on the tools’ background.
* Experience producing design and rule-of-thumb sketches.
* Broader building services experience across multiple roles.
* History of proposing innovative or greener solutions to clients.
* Knowledge of Trimble Estimation Plus.
