Job Description

We are seeking a Proposals Engineer to join an innovative engineering business delivering large-scale automated systems and advanced material handling solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping technically robust and commercially competitive proposals for complex engineering projects. Working closely with sales, engineering and project delivery teams, you will manage proposal opportunities from initial concept through to submission, helping to secure projects that utilise the latest technologies within automation and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
  * 
    Lead and manage proposal activities from enquiry to submission.
  * 
    Review customer specifications, ITTs and RFPs, identifying key technical and commercial requirements.
  * 
    Develop winning bid strategies alongside Business Development Managers and senior stakeholders.
  * 
    Coordinate bid kick-off meetings and manage proposal timelines.
  * 
    Produce clear, compelling and technically accurate proposal documentation.
  * 
    Prepare cost estimates and manage bid budgets.
  * 
    Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to obtain technical and commercial information.
  * 
    Support concept development through collaboration with design teams and the creation of simple layouts using Revit where appropriate.
  * 
    Coordinate customer clarification and RFI processes.
  * 
    Present proposals internally for bid approval and support project handover following successful awards.
Essential Requirements
  * 
    HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
  * 
    Experience with estimating, pricing methodologies and procurement processes.
  * 
    Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  * 
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  * 
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  * 
    Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  * 
    Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings.
  * 
    Understanding of risk identification and mitigation.
  * 
    Strong stakeholder management and team collaboration skills.
Desirable Experience
  * 
    HND or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  * 
    Previous experience as a Proposals Engineer, Bid Coordinator, Estimator, Project Engineer or Technical Design Engineer.
  * 
    Experience using AutoCAD or Revit.
  * 
    Knowledge of automation, material handling, logistics or industrial engineering sectors.
  * 
    Awareness of current industry trends and customer requirements.
