The Role – PRU Teaching Assistant
We’re seeking a proactive and empathetic PRU Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary PRU in Lewisham. You’ll be working with students aged 11–16 who have been referred due to behavioural challenges, trauma, or unmet learning needs in mainstream settings.
Your role will involve providing focused 1:1 support and working with small groups to help students manage behaviour, re-engage with learning, and build confidence. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people with SEMH, ADHD, trauma-related behaviour, and additional educational or medical needs.
Your calm, consistent, and nurturing approach will be key to helping students thrive in this alternative provision setting.
The School - Pupil Referral Unit in Lewisham
This secondary PRU supports around 99 students aged 11–16 with a range of complex needs, including SEMH, ADHD, and trauma histories. The school is committed to providing a therapeutic and structured learning environment, with personalised pathways that help each student work towards success. It was rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in January 2022.
