The Role:
As a Psychology Graduate Learning Mentor, you’ll work closely with a student with Autism, providing tailored one-to-one support across the school day. Your role will involve helping the pupil stay engaged in lessons, manage their emotions, and access the curriculum in a way that works for them. You’ll also liaise with teachers and the SEN team to ensure consistency and track progress over time.
The Candidate:
You should hold a psychology degree and have a calm, empathetic, and patient approach. A good understanding of Autism, or a willingness to learn, is important. Strong communication skills are essential, and any experience supporting children with SEN will strengthen your application.
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – A strong interest in SEN and supporting student wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as mentoring, SEN support, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
