About the Role:
Are you a recent Psychology graduate looking to take your first step into the world of education and special needs? This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and inclusive school in Godalming as a SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting students with Autism and a range of special educational needs (SEN).
This role is ideal for graduates who are considering careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, teaching, or social care. You’ll gain hands-on experience working directly with children in a well-supported, structured setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism, learning difficulties, and other special needs.
Help develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support behaviour management strategies.
Facilitate engaging learning activities and promote emotional and social development.
Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN professionals to deliver inclusive and differentiated support.
Support students with personal care or mobility needs (full training provided).
Record and report on student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/carers.
Contribute to creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements:
A degree in Psychology or a related discipline is preferred, but not essential.
Previous experience working with children or individuals with Autism or SEN is an advantage, though full training will be given.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Excellent communication, patience, empathy, and adaptability.
Able to work collaboratively within a team and take initiative when needed.
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check or already in possession of one.
