Psychology Graduate - Oxford 

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs before pursuing further training or postgraduate study?

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a highly supportive specialist school in Oxford, working alongside experienced educators, therapists and mental health professionals.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who experience a range of social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in helping students access learning, build positive relationships and develop the emotional regulation skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

You will provide daily support to children and young people who may struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, attachment difficulties, trauma-related needs and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
Helping students identify, understand and process their emotions, thoughts and behaviours
Assisting pupils with emotional regulation strategies and coping mechanisms
Supporting the implementation of personalised intervention and support plans
Encouraging positive social interactions and relationship-building
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral teams and families
Monitoring student progress and contributing to support strategiesWe're particularly interested in candidates who:
