Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
 
Could you make a real difference to SEN students who need steady, thoughtful support to succeed in school? Are you looking for meaningful experience before moving into educational or clinical psychology?
 
*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
 *** £85 - £101 per day
 *** Academic Year – September 2026 to July 2027
 *** ‘Good’ school based in Shrewsbury
 *** Support SEN students on a 1:1 and small group basis
 
The Role:
 Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with additional needs across the school day. You will help pupils access learning, follow routines, stay engaged in lessons, build confidence, and work closely with teachers and wider staff to support academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
 
The Candidate:
 You are calm, observant, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want practical school-based experience, you can stay patient in a busy setting, and you are interested in how focused support helps young people with additional needs feel secure and make progress.
 
Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in Psychology or a related subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
Career Goals – A desire to pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.

You will work closely with teaching staff and wider professionals in a role that gives you direct exposure to day-to-day SEND provision, practical intervention, and the support strategies schools use to help students access learning more successfully.
