The Role
We're recruiting for a Procurement Assistant to join the team at a bespoke joinery manufacturer. You will help ensure materials, components, and services needed for their manufacturing and joinery operations are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to high quality standards. You will support the Directors to maintain smooth workflows and uphold their craftsmanship ethos. Key Responsibilities
Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for timber, hardware, finishes, tools, consumables, and other materials.
Request, review, and compare quotations; negotiate terms and pricing where appropriate.
Raise and manage purchase orders, track delivery schedules, and resolve discrepancies or delays.
Maintain up-to-date procurement records in company systems (ERP / CMMS or equivalent).
Monitor inventory levels of parts and materials, flagging low-stock items or critical spares.
Collaborate closely with production, workshop and quality teams to anticipate material needs and prevent disruptions.
Ensure supplier compliance with the company's quality, environmental, and sustainability standards.
Assist with supplier audits, performance reviews, and developing continuous improvement in procurement processes.
About You:
1-2 years' experience in a procurement, purchasing or supply-chain role, ideally in a manufacturing or woodwork / joinery / building materials environment.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple procurement tasks concurrently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP, CMMS or purchasing systems
Good negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive, solution-oriented attitude.
