We are recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to join a thriving manufacturing business in Thetford. This company has seen impressive growth over the last few years, with turnover quadrupled, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. In this standalone role, you’ll be responsible for the full purchasing function — managing stock levels across around 150 active product codes, overseeing the purchase of large volumes of industrial materials and developing a robust stock control system. You’ll also be instrumental in implementing a supplier selection matrix and refining procurement strategies that support the business’s long-term goals.
Your day-to-day will involve:
Strategically sourcing high-quality materials and services.
Maintaining optimal stock levels and conducting regular counts.
Negotiating sustainable, commercially sound supplier terms.
Building and nurturing strong supplier relationships.
Analysing purchasing data and reporting directly to senior management.
What they’re looking for:
Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or Senior Buyer.
Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
Confidence in data-driven decision-making.
A practical understanding of procurement, inventory, and supply chain processes.
The ability to work independently and shape purchasing operations.
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or working with metals would be a big advantage — but above all, someone who is proactive, commercially astute, and ready to take ownership of their function in a growing SME.
