About the Role
This isn’t your typical indirect procurement role. While many assume it’s all about managing contracts for stationery and utilities, this position is far more dynamic and impactful. As our Indirect Buyer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly — think of it as being the “operational heartbeat” of the company.
You’ll be responsible for a wide range of indirect purchasing activities, from tools and consumables to service agreements and site-wide supplier relationships. You’ll also help transition our current VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) setup to an in-house model, giving you the chance to shape and improve key procurement processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Managing day-to-day indirect purchasing activities: RFQs, POs, supplier communication, and order follow-up
* Running competitive bids for all indirect requirements, including CapEx and MRP-driven needs
* Supporting supplier onboarding and ensuring ongoing compliance
* Managing documentation for on-site contractors
* Coordinating with the on-site integrated supplier team, including daily reports and cost-saving initiatives
* Handling customs and logistics queries, including clearance documentation
* Supporting onboarding needs such as business cards, PPE, and workwear
* Representing the procurement function during audits
* Identifying and delivering cost-saving and inventory reduction opportunities
* Ensuring compliance with sourcing policies, risk management, and ethical standards
* Building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers
What We’re Looking For
* Proven purchasing experience (indirect procurement experience is a bonus, not a requirement)
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* A proactive, team-oriented personality with strong communication skills
* Commercially astute with a win-win approach to supplier negotiations
* Progression towards CIPS qualification (part-qualified candidates welcome)
* Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred
Why Join?
* Be part of a respected, forward-thinking company with a global footprint
* Work in a supportive team environment where your input is valued
* Enjoy a varied and meaningful role that touches every part of the business
* Gain exposure to a wide range of procurement categories and strategic projects
Please note: Applicants must have the immediate right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the business, security clearance may be required.
