Overview:
The Flavour Network is delighted to be working with a leading food manufacturing business based in Leicester, specialising in chilled ready meals. We’re seeking a proactive and detail-focused QA Technician to support the Technical Manager in maintaining high standards of food safety, quality assurance, and compliance across the site.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their QA career within a fast-paced and supportive food manufacturing environment. As QA Technician, you’ll play a key role in audit readiness, documentation control, and daily quality checks to ensure compliance with BRCGS and major retailer standards.
Duties and Responsibilities for the QA Technician:
* Conduct and verify daily QA checks on cook, cooling, and pH control points (CCPs and OPRPs).
* Support environmental monitoring, including Listeria control and micro result trending.
* Carry out GMP and hygiene audits, escalating non-conformances and supporting corrective actions.
* Verify CCP records, metal detection, and temperature calibration documentation.
* Assist with product sampling, shelf-life testing, and complaint investigations.
* Maintain accurate HACCP, TACCP/VACCP, and Listeria program documentation.
* Prepare and maintain audit files for BRCGS, EHO, and customer audits.
* Support specification management, supplier approval, and document control systems.
* Collate and report technical KPIs, including complaints, audit results, and micro trends.
Essential Skills and Experience for the QA Technician:
* Previous experience in a food manufacturing QA or technical role (preferably chilled ready meals or similar)
* Good understanding of HACCP principles, food safety systems, and CCP verification.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret microbiology, pH, and temperature data.
* Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
* Confident working cross-functionally with production, hygiene, and technical teams.
* Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Minimum Level 3 Food Safety and Level 2 HACCP qualifications.
* Right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
Desirable Experience for the QA Technician:
* Qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related subject.
* Knowledge of BRCGS standards and retailer codes of practice.
* Experience supporting technical audits and customer documentation.
