Job Description

QC Welding Engineer- South Aberdeen (temp) The Role The Welding Engineer role will be integrated into the Quality and Fabrication departments with the purpose of coordinating all welding-related activities across projects. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant standards (ISO 9001 & ISO 3834), developing and maintaining weld procedures, and supporting continual improvement in welding practices and processes. Responsibilities Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 3834-2 Quality Management Systems. Assist in maintaining ISO 3834 accreditation. Review technical and contractual requirements. Write and develop weld procedures. Prepare work instructions and method statements. Supervise welder qualifications and procedure testing. Ensure existing weld procedures cover forthcoming or estimated work. Act as TWI focal point. Ensure welder qualifications are current and relevant. Conduct welder audits and manage performance. Ensure compliance with client specifications and drawings. Oversee welding equipment suitability, maintenance, and calibration. Assist in production planning. Select and control materials and welding consumables. Coordinate inspection and testing at all welding stages. Maintain traceability and identification throughout processes. Stay current with new welding technologies and techniques. Support a high standard of cleanliness and order in the fabrication shop. Collaborate with engineering to resolve welding-related issues. Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental policies. Identify and propose improvements in working practices and tooling. Report any malpractice or procedural infringements. Requirements Qualifications Essential * TWI Diploma at Technologist Level. * PCN Level II in Radiographic Interpretation. * CSWIP Welding Inspection Level 3.2 (must be renewed every 5 years). * Minimum 10 years’ experience in NDT and Fabrication. Desirable * Additional certifications or training in welding technology or quality assurance. * Prior experience working with ISO 3834 systems in a leadership role. Skills * Strong knowledge of industry standards and quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 3834). * Competence in weld procedure development and qualification. * Proficient in inspection and NDT coordination. * Computer literate and able to use technical software and documentation systems. * Excellent planning and organisational skills. Temp role (4 weeks minimum)
