Job Description

Qualified Early Years Education Officer  Hours: Part time - 7 hours per week Full time 35 hours per week Salary: £22 Per hour UMB ( £15.60 PAYE) About the Role Under the overall direction of the Executive Head, Head of Nursery, and Early Years Teacher, you will implement high-quality early years practice to support all children in reaching their full potential, particularly in the prime areas of learning and development across all centre services. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with experience in early years education who is passionate about creating nurturing, stimulating, and child-centred learning environments. Key Responsibilities Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children in your care. Undertake child protection training appropriate to your role. Contribute to hands-on, play-based learning that promotes emotional stability, independence, autonomy, and creativity. Foster positive relationships with families, colleagues, and professionals to support a multi-disciplinary approach to child and family care. Act as a key person for a small group of children, providing continuity of care and supporting their individual learning journey through observation, assessment, and planning. Support smooth transitions for children and parents within the nursery setting. Develop and maintain positive behaviour strategies and inclusion practices. Attend and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. Contribute to policy development and best practice in the nursery. Use information technology efficiently for administrative and educational purposes. Undertake minor or additional duties as required, including flexible working (e.g., evenings or weekends).Additional Responsibilities Achieve agreed service outcomes, outputs, and personal appraisal targets. Attend meetings, supervision sessions, and seminars for professional development. Ensure compliance with Data Protection, Health & Safety, and equal opportunities legislation. Commit to the Council’s values of public service, quality, equality, and empowerment. Take two weeks of annual leave during the Centre closure period in summer (specific dates to be confirmed).Person Specification We are looking for candidates who: Hold a relevant early years qualification. Have experience working in child-centred, play-based settings. Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Are organised, flexible, and able to work independently. Are committed to promoting inclusion, safeguarding, and the well-being of children.
