Are you a dedicated and compassionate qualified teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of autistic children? Five Education is working with a specialist SEND provision in Bristol that caters specifically for pupils with autism and complex communication needs. We are seeking a passionate teacher who can create engaging, accessible lessons and support pupils to reach their full potential in a nurturing, structured environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-resourced setting with small class sizes, a high staff-to-pupil ratio, and a strong emphasis on individualised learning and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to the learning profiles of autistic pupils, in line with EHCP targets
Use a range of strategies including visuals, sensory support, and structured routines to enhance learning and communication
Collaborate closely with TAs, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils' social, emotional, and academic progress
Use positive behaviour support and autism-specific approaches to promote emotional regulation and independence
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community
Requirements:
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
Experience teaching children with autism and/or other complex learning needs
Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, visual timetables, sensory integration)
Patience, empathy, and adaptability in a structured yet flexible teaching environment
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
