The Quality Assurance Assistant Manager will be based on-site at HMP The Mount and will support the Education Manager with effective management of the curriculum, ensuring needs of learners and employers are met, including delivery of Functional Skills, Personal & Social Development and work-based programmes. You will lead on quality assurance and improvement, developing and encouraging an innovative and problem-solving approach to the work of the tutors to raise standards and meet challenging targets in line with performance indicators. The Quality Assurance Assistant Manager will drive the site’s quality performance and improvements to provision in all subject areas (including functional skills), champion excellence in teaching, learning, assessment and behaviour management strategies relevant to the custodial setting and promote corporate values and procedures in all aspects of teaching and learning. You will line manage the roles of Neurodiversity/Reading Specialists. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure that the Quality Cycle is effectively driven through the department, as the quality leading member of management. * Support and have line management responsibility for the Neurodiversity/Reading Specialist and or Inclusion Support Coordinator roles, who are working collaboratively in the department to provide support to learners with neurodiverse and inclusion needs including those with disabilities. * Plan and lead on the annual lesson and blended learning observation cycle with fellow observers, coordinate deep dives and learning walks, notifying staff; production of the report and action plan and feedback to staff. * Coach and support teachers to develop and improve in their teaching practice, ensuring that resulting teaching and learning action plans are achieved and effective. * Plan thematic deep dives and learning walks throughout the year, in response to self-assessment, teaching, learning and assessment checks, IQA/EQA visits and with a particular focus on progressing and completing HMIP/Ofsted Inspection actions. * Coordinate and deliver local CPD resulting from deep dives, learning walks and trends from lesson observations, probationary reviews and Great Conversations. * Ensure Neurodiversity and Reading Specialists and ISC’s fulfil the duties within the C16 schedule to include regular detailed screening, evidencing of support for Tier 3 learners and reviewing support plans on a monthly basis. * Ensure Neurodiversity and Reading Specialists fulfil their duties for reading to include screening and delivering intervention for support using That Reading Thing and other resources. * Provide teaching cover in the department were absolute necessary. * Induct new teaching staff into the department, providing a mentoring role. * Ensure that there is an effective and realistic learner engagement strategy for the year and monitor implementation. * Undertake quality assurance on quality of teaching, neurodiversity and reading processes. * Monitor and coordinate the IQA and EQA schedule, carry out the IQA role where required and support teams. Requirements: * Degree or equivalent qualification ✓ Teaching qualification (QTLS as appropriate) / Assessor/Verifier Award * English or Maths expertise/specialism – a minimum of Level 3 * Grade 1 Lesson Observation within the last year (evidence required) * Experience of coaching teachers to develop their own teaching practice Experience: * Evidence of providing support/training for teachers to provide high quality effective learning experience * A track record in the management of quality improvement with evidence of raising standards. * Experience in preparation for and during an Ofsted Inspection * Experience in Neurodiversity and Reading specialist work Skills, knowledge and abilities: * Knowledge of current relevant initiatives in further education of Functional Skills * Ability to cultivate an aspirational culture in which teaching staff and learners can thrive and grow * Excellent communication skills both written and oral * Strong influencing skills and ability to lead and support, working effectively within a team Company Benefits: 30 days annual leave Cycle to Work scheme Access to hundreds of discounts via the Additions portal Employee Assistance Programme Access to online wellbeing centre Enhanced Wedding leave A paid volunteering day each year Enhanced Maternity scheme Refer a Friend reward scheme Holiday purchase scheme Pension scheme Life assurance
