The Role: Quality Engineer (ISO (phone number removed):2022)
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support a specialist manufacturing business through a short-term project focused on audit preparation. This 2-month contract offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong quality systems knowledge particularly around ISO or regulatory audits to lead and deliver a high-impact assignment.
Based near the Cambridgeshire / Bedfordshire region (exact location confidential), you’ll be working closely with the Technical Director to prepare the business for an upcoming external audit relating to equipment used in controlled or hazardous environments. As the Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of audit readiness, documentation, and technical support on-site throughout the audit.
Main Responsibilities:
• Complete a full vertical audit against ISO/IEC (phone number removed):2022 (Explosive Atmospheres) using a recent machine build as the reference
• Prepare all required evidence, documentation, and quality records for the external auditor
• Support and/or lead meetings during the audit process, working directly with senior technical leadership
• Identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and ensure all processes meet audit expectations
• Liaise across engineering, production, and quality teams to gather required data
• Provide professional guidance throughout the preparation period and during the audit itself
Skills/Experience:
• Strong background as a Quality Engineer, Quality Consultant, or Quality Manager
• Proven experience preparing for external audits (ISO, ATEX, or similar standards)
• Understanding of ISO/IEC (phone number removed):2022 or explosive atmospheres standards (highly advantageous)
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, documentation, and build processes
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confident communicator capable of leading discussions with auditors and technical teams
• Able to work independently and deliver within agreed timelines
Salary & Working Hours:
• 2-month contract (engagement schedule can be flexible)
• Competitive daily or hourly contract rate (DOE)
• Full-time hours preferred, but flexibility can be discussed
• On-site presence required during preparation and the external audit
