CNC Recruitment are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our clients team within a manufacturing/engineering environment. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet defined quality standards through inspection, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Taunton
Salary: £18 per hour
Contract: Temporary (3-4 months)
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8am - 5pm Friday 8am – 2pm
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct first-off inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
* Ensure products and processes comply with AS9001 and ISO9001 quality management standards.
* Interpret and review engineering and technical drawings, including geometric symbols and tolerances.
* Perform dimensional inspections using metrology and measurement equipment.
* Use inspection tools including:
* Callipers
* Micrometres
* Plug gauges
* Screw plug gauges
* Screw ring gauges
* Gap gauges
* Read and follow control plans to ensure correct inspection and quality processes are applied.
* Identify non-conformities and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
* Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
* Support internal and external audits as required.
* (Nice to have) Program metrology equipment where required.
Skills & Experience
Strong working knowledge of AS9001 and ISO9001 and their practical application.
Proven experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Practical experience using metrology equipment and inspection tools.
Experience conducting precision inspections in a similar environment.
