Quality Engineer - Building Services
AWE (Secure Nuclear Site) | On-Site | Full-Time
Contract | £450-£550/day | Inside IR35
We're looking for a highly competent Quality Engineer to support the delivery of complex Building Services projects at AWE, one of the UK's most secure and technically challenging sites.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a degree-qualified quality professional-ideally chartered-with experience in nuclear, defence, marine or other high-integrity environments. You'll be instrumental in maintaining quality standards, compliance, and assurance on vital MEP systems and infrastructure.
Role Overview
Oversee and maintain quality assurance across all M&E/Building Services installation and commissioning phases
Conduct inspections, audits, and quality reviews across subcontractor activities
Support and enforce compliance with nuclear site standards, procedures, and safety protocols
Interface with engineering, construction, and client teams to ensure quality documentation is in place (ITPs, LTQRs, NCRs)
Input into design and build quality strategies, including materials, welding processes, and pressure systems
Potential involvement in specialist packages (e.g. blast doors, containment structures, or critical infrastructure)
Requirements
Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (essential)
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward (preferred)
Proven experience on nuclear, defence, or marine projects (e.g. shipbuilding, submarines, MOD facilities)
Familiarity with welding standards, pressure systems, or heavy mechanical/structural installations beneficial
Strong understanding of quality systems (ISO 9001), assurance processes, and inspection/test planning
Able to work full-time on site in a high-security environment (AWE)
SC clearance required (or must be eligible and willing to undergo clearance)
