Thrive Oldham are recruiting a Quality Engineer to join a well established company in the Oldham area.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Act as a service and provider of quality issues to whichever department requires it and assists the business on areas for improvement and be responsible for quality of products. You'll also interface with internal and external customers and suppliers on quality issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quality Engineer will produce well presented, and accurate information both to our clients and within the business ensuring procedures and specifications are followed and agreed timescales are met.
Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliant with ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO 3834).
Conduct inspections and quality checks at all stages of fabrication, assembly, welding, machining, and final product delivery.
Develop and review quality plans (e.g., Inspection Test Plans - ITPs, WPS/PQRs) in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
Perform root cause analysis for product or process non-conformances and lead corrective and preventive action efforts (CAPA).
Liaise with production, engineering, and project teams to ensure quality objectives are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Support welding activities by reviewing procedures and qualifications, and inspecting joints using applicable NDT methods.
Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Manage and maintain records related to inspections, materials traceability, calibration of measuring instruments, and test results.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure raw materials and outsourced components meet required specifications.HEALTH & SAFETY
It is your responsibility to work in a safe manner to promote personal safety and the safety of others to prevent accidents occurring and report all near misses.
Move materials safely and carefully using the correct mechanical lifting method.
Use the appropriate PPE and ensure it is in good condition, replace when required.
Follow the company's Health & Safety Policy at all times.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a quality role within heavy engineering, fabrication, or large-scale industrial manufacturing.
Working knowledge of industry standards
Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as UT, RT, MT, and PT
(certification preferred).
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, welding symbols, and technical specifications
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis
Excellent communication, report writing, and documentation skills.
Competence with MS Office, and quality data analysis tools. This list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be expected to perform other reasonable tasks in the interest of their role and the Company's performance.
