Quality Engineer
This Global manufacturer with a family feel is recognised as a respected innovator and manufacture within their industry. The development of a new and exciting division at their site located near Huddersfield, has created an opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will support the development and implementation of new products and processes within the business, with a strong initial focus on New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. This role will involve working closely with Design, Production Engineering, and other functions to resolve engineering issues during development, ensuring robust product and process validation. The position requires a hands-on engineer who can apply problem-solving techniques, support customer requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support quality engineering input into the NPI process, from commercial feasibility assessment through to product validation and launch.
Collaborate with Design and Production Engineering to address engineering issues during the development phases.
Assist with understanding product functionality and supporting the investigation of product failures.
Facilitate containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions for product and process quality concerns and customer complaints.
Contribute to the maintenance of the company’s quality management system (ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
Support the implementation of systemic and product-based improvements to drive product reliability and process efficiency.
Undertake national and international travel when required (expected to be more frequent up to 2027, though not excessive).
Skills & Experience:
Essential
* Background in quality engineering or production engineering within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Experience of working within a New Product Introduction process or product development lifecycle.
* Fundamental understanding of quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control plans, 8D, MSA, RCA & PPAP.
* Practical problem-solving skills, with experience of applying root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Willingness to undertake occasional national and international travel.
Desirable
* Experience within electrical product manufacturing or related industries.
* Knowledge of product testing, validation, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
* A qualification in a Quality, Engineering, or related discipline is essential. (Ideally electrical engineering)
* Minimum requirement: City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent), ideally supported by practical experience in quality or production engineering.
* Candidates with less direct experience should hold a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline
